The Government of Zimbabwe has officially announced the SADC Live Your Dream Road Tour 2025, a historic regional event celebrating tourism, cultural exchange, and sustainable development. The announcement was made on December 13, 2024, highlighting Zimbabwe’s leadership as the current Chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) under the guidance of His Excellency President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa.
The tour will take place from February 15 to March 15, 2025, and aligns with Zimbabwe’s Engagement and Re-engagement Policy, further strengthening the Brand Zimbabwe strategy.
Uniting Southern Africa Through Culture and Tourism
The first phase of the SADC Live Your Dream Road Tour will cover four SADC countries:
- Tanzania
- Malawi
- Zambia
- Zimbabwe
Starting on February 10, 2025, in Arusha/Moshi, Tanzania, a convoy of 17 Land Rovers—representing the 16 SADC member states and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—will embark on a transformative journey, showcasing Africa’s unity, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.
Objectives of the Road Tour
The Government of Zimbabwe outlined the key objectives of this flagship event:
- Celebrate Zimbabwe’s SADC Chairmanship and regional leadership.
- Promote SADC tourism, regional integration, and cooperation.
- Raise awareness of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want and the 17 SDGs.
- Empower and promote visual artists across Africa.
Exploring Iconic Destinations
The convoy, led by Team Zimbabwe, will traverse some of Southern Africa’s most stunning and historic locations, including:
- Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe’s crown jewel and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
- Hwange National Park – A world-renowned wildlife sanctuary.
- Bulawayo – A cultural hub rich in history.
- Masvingo & Great Zimbabwe – Land of ancient ruins and heritage.
- Harare & Marondera – Celebrating Zimbabwe’s progress and leadership.
- Kariba – A majestic lakeside destination.
This 6,000 km journey will highlight tourism, culture, and Africa’s shared vision for sustainable growth and development.
A Call to Action
In his call to unity, President Mnangagwa declared: “Tese tirima SADC Chair. Pauri ipapo uri SADC Chair,” meaning “We are all SADC Chair; wherever you are, you represent SADC.”
The Government urges Zimbabweans, SADC nationals, and all Africans to rally behind this initiative, fostering regional pride, cooperation, and collective action.
