On December 8, 2024, the much-anticipated SADC Live Your Dream Road Tour will officially start with an exciting flag-off ceremony at the Zimbabwean Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This landmark initiative marks a celebration of regional unity, cultural exchange, and the shared commitment to sustainable development across the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The convoy, featuring 17 iconic Land Rovers branded in the vibrant colors of the SADC member states, will set out on an epic 6,000-kilometer journey. Representing both the region’s diversity and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the vehicles are a powerful symbol of collaboration and shared purpose.
“This road tour is more than just a journey—it’s a movement,” said Takudzwa Sithole, spokesperson for the LYD organization. “It embodies our vision for an integrated Southern Africa where culture, sustainability, and innovation pave the way for progress.”
The first leg of the tour will pass through Tanzania, with stops in Iringa and Mbeya, where the Moving Arts Program will bring the vibrant spirit of African creativity to life. Local artists, musicians, and performers are expected to dazzle audiences with cultural showcases that celebrate the rich heritage of the region.
Key highlights of the tour include interactive sessions with local communities to raise awareness about the SDGs, economic empowerment workshops for youth and women, and opportunities to explore breathtaking destinations such as Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins.
